Why Kathy?
The decision to run for Council at Large was an easy one! I always knew I would run for public office one day, it was just a matter of time. I am passionate about our community and its people and have called Lexington home for over 30 years.
I know this community; I have developed long-standing relationships and can identify and access many resources to help Lexington grow. I think outside of the box and draw upon my creative and visionary strengths to get results. The proof is my track record. My nine plus years as President of the United Way of the Bluegrass provided me with a unique perspective of Lexington and the region. I have been an integral part of the discussions regarding local and regional life issues. This experience enhances my vantage point for the Council at Large office. I want to be sure that those who make decisions about our community understand not only the rules of law and policy but also how those decisions affect people’s everyday lives.
I have a history of bringing a variety of voices to the table to get a number of points of view. I continue to be a champion of underserved and under-represented populations in our community while also understanding and supporting our business, university and tourism industries. I understand compromise to get the job done without compromising my principles or the outcomes. I am ready to work for Lexington. I promise that I will champion causes that will make lives better for all of us in the Bluegrass. Thank you for your support!
